Past 1930's. The weather is warm, sunny,rainy. Bud's life was okay everyday he would go to the library and the mission. Bud's speech was as good as most peoples, he wore ragged old clothes. He wasn't treated that well while being in Flint. At the begging of the story it's pretty sad becasue Bud gets locked up in a shed.
